This is a business class VPN firewall/router that can connect to either a single WAN or dual WANs (for example, both cable and DSL). When connected to two WANs it can be configured to load balance between the two WANs or to switch to the secondary WAN when the primary WAN is out of service. The Stateful Packet Inspection firewall serves as an excellent barrier to unauthorized access to your local network.
The package includes the router, power adapter, cat 5E cable and a CD ROM with one VPN client license. I have never used the VPN capabilities so I have never used or registered the client license. Documentation (an extensive PDF manual) is available from Netgear\'s support site. Although Netgear stopped manufacturing these units last fall, it continues to provide online chat support for them. You will need to do a system reset on the router before you can access the router to configure it.
