Switched to Centurylink as ISP, why rent when you can own? A lot of these modem-routers available on ebay which will pay for itself in 4 to 5 months. Obtained this device, set-up a breeze, interface easy navigation, able to configure for my needs. Ability to have multiple SSID's at 2.4 and 5ghz helpful. Upgraded from Cat 5 to Cat 7 cabling, noticeable improvement between hardwired devices. I'm using the 60mbps download speed from ISP no issues. Come January 2020, 100mbps will be avail in my neighborhood and this device will be able to handle it. If your a novice, the interface has good help, not understanding call Centurylink tech support they will help, very knowledgeable folks. I'm quite impressed with my purchase. Does what I need. ZyXEL is only the mfg of device, all proprietary hardware and software comes from Centurylink. You'll need to contact Centurylink if you have any questions or concerns, NOT mfg.Read full review

Sometimes the different sorting for technical data and "sales rabble" can complicate the process for making a simple purchase for a modem/router. This one finally worked on my older desktop system. It is powerful enough to travel through several walls to the other extreme corner in the house and also feeds a ROKU device over there. It is a slightly used modem/router though it is in good condition. The match is most important and I recommend you research your product for compatability with your internet service. It sure beats renting. Good luck friend ii 100MarkM-

A bit "vintage" (2012) but as cast-off equipment available for use on apparently rural TelCos just entering that technology and by buying, can avoid TelCos monthly rental fee (I avoided $8/mo). Is NOT self-sensing/plug'n'play, so set-up can be bit of challenge, but TelCo/ISP should relate at least basic settings/numbers (although not where/how to set). ZyXEL(dot)com itself even some help through online chat (contact through your old eqpt, before you set-up your new ZyXEL), although stated they sell TO ISPs, so don't truly support as CPE (customer provided equipment). IS rated as/comparable to some major ISPs "Triple-play" compatible. ["trick" might be RESETTING when ISP actually switches to vectored/bonded; currently 'requiring" upgrade "in anticipation" while still operarting under former protocol, but ZyXEL VGM 4825 can accommodate either] Detailed user-manual and basic fact-sheet findable in online search using ZyXEL and model.Read full review

Centurylink Phoenix does not provide a dual-band modem/router. In my 'hood, the 2.5 GHz band is flooded with wireless printers, hackers, telephones, and household wifi. A real mess. Having the 5 GHz band ... helps much. This modem/router does what it says: delivers dual-band wifi with reliable connections.
