I've thought about this for over a year and have read about so many people who had problems with a used modem. This company must do this a lot because they had their own IT department -- not that I needed them. This device came with very clear instructions and I just followed them with it all going very smoothly. It's a great value and I'm really happy. I upload a lot of large videos 1 hour long sometimes and it still uploads as fast as it did before. WiFi seems to be fast also. I also felt more comfortable because they had the 30 return policy. I knew if I needed to I could return it and go back to my rented modem. I'm so happy I don't need to!!

The first one i purchased, i could not get the phone to work with my cable provider (xfinity), so i returned it, the second one I bought worked fine at set up. Once the family was home and using the wifi the modems performance dropped and it would freeze and dump them off the wifi. The ethernet connection stilled worked fine. If you have more then one wifi device, such as a phone, computer or tv running at the same time on the wifi the modem will not perform adequatly.

I researched this purchase well and setup went smoothly. Much cheaper than buying model I was renting from Comcast. Note: you have to disable wireless funtion to connect to another router. As this is older wireless standard I connected it to faster wireless router. I knocked off one star because video occasionally ‘hiccups’. I can’t be sure this is modems fault but I had not noted it with newer modem I was renting from Comcast. Overall I’m satisfied especially as it will pay for itself in 3billing cycles.

I bought this for my parents house. It wouldn’t provision online so I called the Comcast number provided in the instructions. Even on a Sunday and gave them the serial and other numbers. After a few reboots it was up and running. Had to remind the agent that the phone had to be provisioned too which was the easy part. Getting 100/10 speeds. Same setup at home and it gets 250/10. I use a Netgear nighthawk for the wireless and put the arris in bridge mode so it doesn’t do any routing. Saving $120 a year. Works great!

I've bought a few of these in the past and had no problems but the telephony does not work with Comcast/Xfinity as advertised. The following was mentioned in the description "Comcast /Xfinity Users: Comcast / Xfinity Telephony Function can take up to 24-48 hours to fully sync and provision. Please allow the modem to stay connected for this amount of time without disconnecting to ensure proper provisioning for the phone line." and I left it on for over 3 days and nothing. I ended up keeping the modem because of the built in router and purchased a "MagicJack" to use for a phone.
