This is an excellent router. Why waste time trying to flash a router to DD-WRT when Buffalo has the DD-WRT firmware built into their routers? I highly recommend purchasing Buffalo routers for your wireless networking. They are more secure, because they incorporate DD-WRT firmware. The amenities, such as Wi-Fi hotspots and frequency boosts are well worth the $65.00 I spent on this item. I did find two downfalls to this specific router. First being that the Buffalo Manufactured version of the DD-WRT did not provide for the desired features of configuring this router as a wireless repeater and access point. I actually had to spend over a weeks worth of time researching alternatives and was lead to believe that flashing the router to a DD-WRT firmware upgrade that would provide me with the configuration features that I desired at the time. What I found out about this specific wireless router is that it does not provide support for more powerful versions DD-WRT firmware upgrades offering the configuration features that I was hoping for. Buffalo's more expensive models do provide the desired features without any need of DD-WRT firmware upgrades or DD-WRT flashing that could brick a $65.00 wireless router if done incorrectly. And there is no flashing back to Buffalo's Manufactured version of DD-WRT firmware. Do not waste your money on this particular wireless router if you are looking to configure it as a wireless access point or repeater when desired. It just is not equipped with those configuration features. So I recommend spending an additional $25.00 to $75.00 on Buffalo's more expensive DD-WRT wireless routers as they do provide these additional features.Read full review
Purchased new, open box from a large electronics retailer, with DD-WRT firmware already installed. Claims of "high power" are blatantly false. Wireless signal poor even when set to maximum. For some reason firmware caps radio at 125mw, pathetic since actual signal is closer to 80mw. (note: radio is capable of 900mw supposedly). Wired speeds were ok, but wireless signal is slow and unreliable. Totally unable to stream video or even some audio when connected wirelessly. Terrible buffering and other complaints. Buffalo support suggested upgrading to latest DD-wrt, which I did. Did not matter. So I took the router back to the store and exchanged it for a new in box factory sealed model. Guess what? Same problems with signal strength, inability to stream video, only worse because this other one could not smoothly stream video even over the wired connection. Did some research - seems DD-wrt uses the wrong driver for this router's Atheros chipset. Until dd-wrt resolves this self-inflicted wound, I would totally avoid this product.Read full review
Works as expected, no need to reboot. Once it is working correctly it stays that way. Only concern is with setting it up as in Client mode. For client mode you need the latest Buffalo Professional firmware because the public DD-WRT has problems with it. Only bridges networks trough wireless, the Switch stays as a separated network with access to the Admin interface alone. Other than that, excelent performance and range and no crashing or reboots.
My Buffalo got fried in a lightning strike and I needed one quickly/ This fit the bill, and I couldn't be happier....updated the firmware to DD-WRT r30432 (8-16-2016). Thanks.

It's a good router, small, good range, semi-professional, above average reliability comparing with others routers in the same price. I'm using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/09/10) std - build 15704, it's more stable than official DD-WRT from Buffalo
