I purchased this phone to replace an older phone that no longer functioned. I have narrow wall that has a wall mounted phone jack. This phone with its "Male" projection slipped easily into the existing "Female" port on the phone jack. Be sure you understand the mechanism by which this phone attaches to the wall. There is NO cord between the phone and the wall jack with which to attach the phone to the wall. My only complaint is that the phone comes with a very short cord that connects the base unit to the ear piece. I purchased a separate coiled cord that is rated at 25 foot extendability.
