I have worked with quite a few 802.11n routers and access-points in the past few years and this one does a great job with coverage and speed within the 2.4gHz spectrum. It does not however offer any connectivity in the 5gHz spectrum. I had hoped that it would offer dual-band support as certain Intel branded Centrino 802.11n adapters do not support a connection speed higher than 110Mbps in the 2.4gHz spectrum. The gigabit ports are fast and very functional. The router itself is a breeze to setup and I would buy again. I would however plan on also buying a second router or AP to use for the 5gHz spectrum.
I have owned the latest 2.0 hardware revision of this for a year and would recommend that ANYONE considering this router to PASS and run for the hills. This thing has been nothing but trouble AND A WASTE OF MONEY, Google the reviews, I'm not the only one. Its feature set and programming are excellent, its bandwidth handling is mediocre at best but where it really utterly fails in in hardware reliability. You see in order to give this device the power to run all the advanced security features they built in 2 very powerful (for their size) CPUs, but NEVER BUILT IN ANY COOLING! The net effect is, as soon as the device is under even a moderate load, or the temp in the room goes up a few degrees or a beam of light from a nearby window hits it... it terminally overheats and the device's OS begins having logic errors and begins a systemic cascading complete failure. Mine had gotten so hot that it has filled the room with burning plastic/electronics smell and I have had to remove the device and put it in the freezer to cool it down (THIS HAD HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES)... and that was only running a small off with a few users!Read full review
This is the VPN router the pros use. High-speed Wi-Fi and 4 Gb ports. The Cisco small business series can be installed vertically or horizontally depending on space available. Do not cover the side ventilation ports, this heavy duty device needs to breathe just like high-end routers and blade servers

Awesome router! I have been looking for something for my home network that supports gigabit WAN and LAN. I have a 24 port gigabit switch in my house and I wanted to make my entire network gigabit from the internet connection all the way down to the computer. This allowed me to do that. retails for over $250. I got it for $110 shipped. It does get kind of hot, but as long as you aren't stacking devices, you should be alright. Oh yea, and I can't wait to set up the VPN!
Nice item for the price. Great features. You need to update the firmware before you even set it up. had some issues were I have reboot on a weekly basis. But overall its a nice item. I don't think the wireless is up to par comparing it to some of the similar items. I think the older router if all you need is wireless just purchase a lower end model. they will run just as good.
