Had to do this quickly before leaving on vacation so i just did basic set up which means it has its own sign in. According to instuctions it can be set up as just a repeater so your sign in to your modem is also signed in to the repeater. Have to do that switching later. So far not a big deal to sign in separately as i use it to reach the garage when working out there.
