I bought these powerline units to extend my home network in places where the wifi was not strong or reliable enough. I already had the same kit. I observed that units from other manufacturers can also be paired with these units, provided that they work with the AV2 standard, but the ones I already owned other than my AV1200 kit are older, less reliable and slower. This model has a passthrough socket, a great feature if you need to plug other devices around, because plugging these adapters in a power bar decreases their performance and is not recommended. Also the 3 network ports (RJ-45) are great if you have more than one device around. I paired these AV1200 adapters with my original kit without any problem. The pairing must be done with the provided Windows or Mac application, by entering the password printed on the back of each unit. I would prefer a web interface, but it's OK. Using this application is not required for the first kit you install. Depending on the wall where I plug the new units in my basement, I get a 300 Mbps rate or a 100 Mbps rate. Powerline performance is dependent on the electrical wiring and nearby interferences. But when I plug 2 computers in the same unit, the throughput between these computers tops to the full 1 Gbps capacity of the RJ-45 ports. Data doesn't go back and forth to the router, through the electrical wires. It cannot be faster with this hardware. My only problem is that sometimes, with a Linux/Ubuntu client, the communication freezes. Because a software disconnect / reconnect solves the problem, the adapter is probably not the cause. Overall these used adapters provide great functionality and performance, specially for the price paid. They deserve 5 stars. Edit May 2020: When I plugged sensitive active speakers in the passthrough socket I got some noise when the network is busy, not always but enough to plug the speakers elsewhere.Read full review

Had my doubts about ordering this product but no longer. I have a kodie box that ran slow (always buffering) over Wifi. I used this power line adapter to transfer (hardwire) data through my house electrical wiring and it solved my issue. No more buffering when streaming video. Very easy to setup, it's just as simple as plug n play.

Bought these because my cousins had an issue where they didn’t get WiFi in their upstairs room when the router was on the ground floor. I already had a pair and they worked well for me so I said why not. Plug and play and it was night and day for them. They no longer lagged in games, waited minutes, not hours, for updates and didn’t wait for the buffer in their Netflix shows. They were happy with these and I recommend them if WiFi is hard to come by for your home devices

Very easy to set up, literally 10 minutes. Greatly increased the download speed of my modem/router which is located at the opposite end of my residence.

Easy to set up just plugged it in and it works; When plugged into the bottom outlet there is only room to plug a flat style plug in the upper, but the concern is that I have a touch lamp that now keeps turning itself on, since the lamp is nothing special I'll replace it but if you have one that you really want this could be a concern.
