I have used these for 30 years on all my electronics. They are superb at protecting electronics and helping to prevent hard drive crashes. They keep a relatively steady voltage going to the power supplies which helps get long life from them. They are true sine wave output which means even sensitive computers like them. Very well designed and made they do the job are the best way to protect expensive electronics. Everyone needs these UPS's.

Very good and useful UPS. I like the sinewave output. Newer USPs are available, but these (SUA1500) are normally heavily price discounted as compared to the newer units. Uses '90s technology but that era works fine. Has RS232 and USB I/O. I would recommend a network card (Ethernet) be used with any UPS including this one. Use the RS232 to initialize network card. Slightly less VA than the previous generation, but not by much. So these units are still a good upgrade if you are only looking at power. I gave it a 4 star because the newer generations have more new features (but at a cost).
I got in my house everything protected against brown outs, surges, spikes, everywhere, my fridge, tv, lamps, computers, even my garage freezer, I bought them used, good, whatever, I fix em/put fresh batteries and they are great devices. It’s fascinating how they are Pure Sine-wave and you can plug em to multiple battery packs for longer protection.

I have been using APC UPS products for a while, but have never used their SmartUPS products until now. What I like is the USB cable connection instead of the proprietary RS-232 cable and COM ports. The software was easy as usual but the difference now is the more complete display of battery data. Works as expected for a new server. I am very happy with this purchase. The negative is the higher price, but otherwise no other issues.
not only did it need batteries ( as described ) but when i went to put the batteries in and opened the case there were no battery connection parts -- nothing to connect them !!! now i have to return the batteries and buy a kit with the connection caps fuse connector & disconnect plug assy.
