This 10/100 is still "ok", but if you are doing anything on a small home / small office LAN that shares multimedia files, I recommend getting the GS105 over this one. It's 10x faster Ethernet speed for just a few $ more. I impulse-bought the FS105 before checking for better ones, and so I had to order a GS105 after I bought this one.

The one I bought used is actually just the FS105 ... its the same exact design as in the picture, but it DOES NOT advertise that it uses "ProSafe" ... So I assume it DOESN'T use it. The uplink port (port5) works exactly as well as you would think... it uses 7.5V @ 1 Amp. It is exceptionally difficult (damn near impossible) to find any documentation on the model I bought, because it does not have "ProSafe" printed on the cover ANYWHERE!!!! The model number of the one I bought is: "FS15A0915290". I use this to connect my two web servers to my router on the other side of the house with a 50ft Cat6 Ethernet Cable connected to the uplink port with the button pressed in to enable it to uplink. Everything connected to the switch sees themselves as being connected to the router in the other room. It works exactly as I had hoped! :D Great price for 6.99 and free shipping for this thing used! :)Read full review
I bought this because I didn't want WiFi.I have everything from the computer and Blu Ray player to a Smart TV connected via ethernet cable which delivers a beter signal and more securely. This switch is plug and play. It has connected all my equipment easily with no loss of signal and took all of 1 minute to do it.It works great with my 2Wire modem/router with no conflicts.I consider this one of my "best buys" for the money. I would recommend getting one with more connections than you need in case you want to expand later.
I bought these for my laptop cases at work. I needed something that could get knocked around without getting destroyed and these fit the bill perfectly. Not the latest generation this and that but for my purposes it was EXACTLY what I wanted.
