Commodore PET CBM 2001 8 BS Vintage ComputerIncludes:

• Trek-X Game for PET 8K, on cassette, with original box and instructions (Instant Software Inc. 1979)

I purchased this computer from the U.K. about six months ago. It was expertly packed and very well maintained by the original seller. I had noticed the screen was flickering slightly so I contacted the seller. He explained to me:"I’m wondering if this is a chip not making good connection. Leave it plugged in so it’s grounded but turned off helps with static. Carefully slightly lift and reseat the rom and video memory chips first, then all the chips try not to fully pull the chips to start with."He was absolutely correct, all I needed to do was make sure the chips were secure and the flicker disappeared. This only reinforced the idea that if you wish to own a vintage computer, you MUST be prepared to repair it and replace parts as necessary. I do not have the skill-set to do this, so I am reselling the computer having only used it a few times.I also purchased a transformer to convert the voltage, PLUS I purchased a rare, early Star Trek game called 'Trek X', which also works (see pics) and comes with the original box and manual. Please note that even though the game has sound the computer does not produce sound. The transformer and game are included.Notes From Original Seller with a few updates from me:

• Fully working and in very nice condition for a computer which is 45 years old.
• Keyboard is in fantastic condition the decal is like new no wear.Tape player is fully working and had a belt change recently, the game you see running in the pictures, 'Trek X', has been loaded from the cassette player.
• Case is nice and clean with the some marks, scratches and discolouration inline with its age, please look carefully at the photos for details of the condition.
• Mother board is in very good condition no visible repairs and it looks to have all its original chips.
• I would describe this system as carefully used but well loved and looked after, it was purchased from the original owners son.
• It’s getting hard to find these steel cased early Pets in nice working condition and not messed with i.e repainted, running ram, rom replacement boards and chips.
• This is definitely a chance to own a piece of computing history.

Please make sure this is exactly what you want to buy as I do not accept returns and there is no warranty on this computer due to its age. Old electronics are like vintage cars they work perfectly for years then one day they don't! If you are buying this type of equipment you have to be prepared to repair it and replace parts occasionally. All my descriptions are accurate and I do my best to describe any issues that I find. I always say if something is known faulty.The computer, transformer and game will be extremely well packaged with lots of padding.
The computer will be fully insured for the sale price, but this is only for loss as you can’t insure systems with CRT screens for damage so this will be shipped at the buyers own risk. Absolutely no returns accepted.
