Vintage (March 1988) Miniscribe 3650 40M Drive:
$288.75

This vintage Miniscribe 3650 40M Drive is a hard drive unit that is compatible with IBM computers. It was manufactured in Singapore, 29Mar1988 and is now available for purchase. Despite being a vintage product, it appears to be still in good working condition. Its brand, Miniscribe, is known for producing reliable computer storage solutions. It spins up, but I no longer possess any 8bit controller cards or PCs to test beyond that point. So it is being sold AS IS, aside from my assurance to you that it spins up.

This hard drive is a rare find for vintage computing enthusiasts who want to add a piece of computing history to their collection. It is sold as a unit and is the perfect addition to any vintage computer restoration project. This Miniscribe 3650 40M Drive is a must-have for those who appreciate the evolution of computer technology.

History of THIS specific drive: this was my first-ever purchase of a hard disk. At the time, I had spent some $360 plus $40 shipping and an insulting $35 UPS brokerage fee, and had to blindly wait (without any tracking services) for five weeks until it arrived.

At the time, this was a very major addition to a student PC/XT, and I was incredibly proud of the PC \'movement.\'  At the time, I was studying IBM mainframe programming and privately tinkering with DOS 2.1, Lotus 123, dBase and all sorts of \'revolutionary\' stuff.

I even waved it in the faces of my profs who had been bragging about how many 3340 (33M) removable DASD units the college had. Ha! I had 40M on my desktop PC/XT! PCs are the future! Rah! Rah! Rah!

The DASD <Direct Access Storage Device> that the college used were older units and had stacked 14\" platters and weighed some 60+lbs, but were still miles ahead of tape drives and punched cards, which they still used in abundance.

I did not wipe the disk before removing it. So if it talks to you, can you please email me a copy of the contents for my own nostalgic satisfaction?
