FOR SALE: pfSense four-port Gigabit router/firewall on Sophos SG 115 rev 2 hardware.
Sophos SG 115 is in support with the manufacturer until 2025, but the manufacturer encourages their customers to upgrade to a newer model. To decouple the device from the manufacturer’s licensing and services, we installed and configured pfSense, an open-source operating system for networking equipment.
To test the device and make port functions consistent with on-device labeling, we made a few changes to the initial pfSense configuration. A detailed configuration note will be provided to the buyer. Alternatively, the buyer could simply reset pfSense to its initial state.
The device runs on an Intel Atom E3827 processor with 4 GB of RAM and a 64 GB SSD. The processor supports AES-NI crypto. Networking is handled by an Intel i211 network interface card.
The device is implemented in a desktop form factor. The case is all metal and exceptionally rigid. There are four Gigabit ports.
The device is passively cooled and completely silent.
The device is in good physical condition, with minor scratching consistent with normal use (please review the photos; note that we are listing multiple devices, so the device pictured may or may not be the device you receive; the photos are representative of the condition of all devices in the listing).
A power supply unit with a threaded coupling (no more accidental unplugging!) is included.
Update: we have received some XG 115 units. Rather than list them separately, we included them in this listing. SG 115 and XG 115 are hardware-identical and differ (slightly) only in the styling of the front panel (see the last photo). Sophos distinguished them only because they were shipped with different software. If you have a preference between the two, let us know; if not, we'll ship you the unit that happens to be on top of the stack on the day of shipment.
